What does Production Accounting entail on a film or TV project?
- Accounts Payable (AP) – paying the bills for the production
- Payroll – dealing with all crew payroll issues AND the entertainment payroll service
- Petty cash – while this used to mean literally handing cash to crew members and tracking receipts, these days it’s more about funding purchase cards (also called p-cards in film and TV) – and of course accounting for it
- Cost reporting – this is a regular production accounting report prepared for producers and executives as requested, to get a picture of actual production costs vs the budget
Our production accountants work with either Media Services payroll or Cast & Crew, whichever you prefer. The benefit for you is that our accountants work hand-in-hand with the payroll service, and nobody knows these services or our accounting software better than our own employees! It’s like having a concierge to payroll.
Best of all, with Media Services, production accounting can either be done full-time for your film or TV project, or by a member of our in-house production accountant “pool” – a cost-effective, contact-free way to go.
